COVID UPDATE - 26 JANUARY 2021
The Kirklees Light Railway is now closed to the public until at least 26 March 2021. This intended start date for the 2021 season may be pushed back further should COVID restrictions make it necessary - we will keep you informed!
In the meantime, whilst we are closed to the public, a skeleton team of key staff will remain working on site seven days a week whilst some staff will be furloughed (again!).
During this period of closure, it is vital that members of the public do not enter the railway's sites or trespass along the track. The railway's facilities will be closed to all those who do not have permission to enter - this includes the playgrounds which belong to us as a small private business and are not a public/community facility. It is also important to remember that railways are DANGEROUS places and we will be running service trains at unscheduled times so please STAY OFF THE TRACK.
If you do intend to purchase tickets for when we re-open in 2021, please remember that - for now - it is vital you only book for your immediate social bubble and no one else. Thank you.
Do not visit if you or anyone in your social bubble are experiencing even mild COVID symptoms
By law, you must only visit us within your immediate social bubble (for current social bubble guidance visit https://www.gov.uk/.../making-a-support-bubble-with...). Please note that childcare bubbles are not the same as social bubbles!
Do not meet up with others at the KLR inside or outside
Wear a face covering unless exempt or under 11. This applies on your train journey, when inside the station facilities (including toilets), in the shop & in the cafe when ordering/collecting takeaway
At all times maintain your social distance from people you are not in a social bubble with
When taking a seat on board, remember to sit in your social bubble only & to leave one whole compartment of four empty seats between your bubble & the next bubble along. Please do not spread out unnecessarily
Wash/sanitise your hands regularly
Provide your contact details for track & trace
Follow the one-way systems & other instructions on site
Respect the capacity limits in our playgrounds
Use contactless payments wherever possible
