Ticket Sale Terms & Conditions

Wilson Digital Media Ltd operates the ticketing website on behalf of Stately Albion Ltd, trading as Kirklees Light Railway (referred to below as the Kirklees Light Railway), for all tickets with the exception of tickets for the Day Out with Thomas events.  Wilson Digital Media Ltd does not set ticket prices nor determine seating locations.

By purchasing a ticket by telephone, in person over the counter, via the www.kirkleeslightrailway.com (including e-tickets) or via an authorised Kirklees Light Railway agency, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

Advance standard day tickets & special event tickets (excluding Day Out with Thomas events):

Booking Fees   
 
- All bookings are subject to a £1.80 booking fee. Prices quoted in printed material and online are exclusive of all fees.  Booking fees are how Wilson Digital generates revenue for creating, maintaining and hosting the site, processing your payments, issuing your tickets and working with the railway to ensure your booking experience is smooth, secure and simple.

Child Tickets  
 
- A ticket is required for each child attending the railway, regardless of age or whether a fee is due for that ticket.  In order to purchase a child’s ticket, the person using it should be under 16 years old 
- Children should be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times

Concessions and Discounts   

- We offer concessionary rates and some discounts for standard operating days and most special events. Only one concession or discount may be applied per ticket

- Concessionary rates are available for persons over 60 years old, for students who are in possession of a valid student ID or NUS card and for carers.  The Kirklees Light Railway reserves the right to check proof of eligibility at any point and entry will be refused if you are found to have purchased a concession you are not entitled to

- Discounts to special events may be available for holders of a Max Card.  Any applicable discounts are only accessible when booking via the telephone or in person.  Please see individual special event conditions to check discount availability.

Ticket Delivery   

- Tickets for special events will be posted to you by the Kirklees Light Railway starting a fortnight before the event and may only arrive in the days leading up to the event.  If your tickets have not arrived within 48 hours of the event, please contact the Kirklees Light Railway on 01484 865727, quoting your booking reference number.

- If your booking is made within five days of the event, your tickets will be held at the Kirklees Light Railway Ticket Office for collection on the day of the event. Tickets can be collected on presentation of the debit/credit card used to make your booking and your booking confirmation if you have booked online.

- If booking standard day tickets online, you may select the e-ticket option. Please present your e-ticket at the Kirklees Light Railway Ticket Office on the day of travel.

- When you receive your tickets, please keep them in a safe place. Please note that direct sunlight or heat can sometimes damage tickets. Please check your tickets as mistakes cannot always be rectified.

Terms of Admittance  

- For the protection and comfort of all customers, the Kirklees Light Railway reserves the right to refuse admission or eject in reasonable circumstances such as rowdy, nuisance, unsafe or violent behaviour

- In exceptional circumstances we may provide alternative seats to those specified on the ticket

- By purchasing a ticket, the ticket holder consents to being shown in official filming, photography and sound recording

- By purchasing a ticket, the ticket holder agrees to inform the railway in advance of any medical conditions that may be relevant when travelling on the railway including, but not limited to, wheelchair use

- By purchasing a ticket, the ticket holder acknowledges that some services and events use flashing/strobe lighting effects.  Any visitors with phot-sensitive medical conditions shoould contact the railway prior to purchasing tickets to ask advice

- The Kirklees Light Railway staff reserve the right to request patrons to stop any activity that is deemed inappropriate

- The Kirklees Light Railway may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons
 
- The ticket holder must comply with all relevant statutes, safety announcements and Kirklees Light Railway regulations whilst travelling

Cancellation Policy

- Tickets for standard operating days and special events are non-refundable except in the event of cancellation
 
- Occasionally, the Kirklees Light Railway may cancel or reschedule services or special events. Although the Kirklees Light Railway will endeavour to notify customers of cancellations or changes to scheduled services via www.kirkleeslightrailway.com and the Railway’s Facebook page and Twitter feed, it is the responsibility of the ticket holder to ascertain whether a service has been cancelled or rescheduled.

- If a special event service or a standard operating day is cancelled, the Kirklees Light Railway will make every effort to accommodate you on another service (of the same event) or offer a refund. Please contact the Kirklees Light Railway for information on obtaining a refund or an exchange.

- If the service or event is moved or rescheduled, the Kirklees Light Railway may set refund limitations. Please contact the railway on 01484 865727 for further details.

- If a service is rescheduled, ticket holders will be offered tickets for the rescheduled service, equivalent to the face value of the ticket.

- The Kirklees Light Railway does not guarantee that the trains will arrive or depart at the times stated and reserves the right to cancel, alter or suspend any train without notice, or to substitute a different engine should this be necessary for whatever reason.

Ticket Refunds

- The Kirklees Light Railway will only refund pre-booked tickets if a special event service or a standard operating day has been cancelled. If a booking fee has been charged, we regret that this will not be returned.

- We regret that no refunds or exchanges are permitted due to adverse weather conditions if the special event or planned services go ahead as scheduled.

- No refund on pre-booked tickets will be made on the announcement of a subsequent special offer.

Ticket Changes/Exchanges  

The Kirklees Light Railway will allow ticket changes/exchanges to be made under the following conditions:

- For special event tickets only – no exchanges are permitted for standard day tickets purchased online in advance

- Changes to special event tickets can be made up to 24 hours before the booked event/service

- A £3 administration charge will be payable for every change made up to 24 hours before the original booked service/event

- Changes/exchanges are only available for the same event and are not transferable between special events

- Changes/exchanges will be made at the discretion of the Kirklees Light Railway and are subject to availability

- All change/exchange requests are to be made in person at the Kirklees Light Railway Ticket Office or by calling 01484 865727

Lost or Destroyed Tickets

- In the event that your tickets have been lost or destroyed, please call the Kirklees Light Railway on 01484 865727, quoting your booking reference number.  The railway will happily replace lost or destroyed tickets free of charge.

Reselling of tickets for profit

- Tickets may not be offered for resale by anyone at a premium. Resale or attempted resale for profit is grounds for cancellation without refund or notice.

Data Protection  

- For your protection and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, we only take your address in order that we can contact you in the event of a cancellation; authorise a credit/debit card transaction; and to mail out your tickets, if requested.

- All of these terms and conditions are governed by English Law.
